Why we built the club

About Us

Voracious Club is a used-book shop for readers who want the good stuff without the noise. We care about the story, but we also care about the object: the cover wear, the spine, the notes in the margin, the signs that a book has already lived a little.

We built the club because most second-hand listings are either too vague or too careless. We wanted a store that grades honestly, photographs clearly, and treats every book like a real object with its own history.

The short version

We like books that feel found, not mass-issued. The job is to make that feel legible online.

Our story

From a loved collection of books to a shop of our own

  1. A few years ago

It started with talking about books

I've been filming short videos about books for a few years now: what I'm reading, the books I'd press into a friend's hands, and the editions I can't stop collecting. The shelves at home kept growing, and so did the pile of books I wanted to pass on.

Brave New World, Carrie and a stack of Sally Rooney novels with handwritten library-card notes, on Voracious Club mailers
    happy reading!
The Master and Margarita with a handwritten library-card note saying Happy Reading, next to Voracious Club mailers
    a note in every book
  2. About a year ago

    The shelves started winning

So I began selling on Vinted and eBay. Every order was wrapped at the coffee table in whatever bright tape was closest, and the colourful parcels quickly became a bit of a signature.

Book parcels criss-crossed with pink, green, orange, blue and purple tape on a glass table
    tape, lots of tape
A red tote bag packed with parcels wrapped in white paper with pink and blue tape
    one tote, many reads
  3. Hundreds of orders later

One trip to the drop-off at a time

Many hundreds of orders followed, each one wrapped by hand and carried down the road in a tote bag, rain or shine, autumn leaves and all.

A red tote bag full of taped parcels on an autumn pavement covered in fallen leaves
    the post office run
A hand holding a stack of three taped book parcels outside under the trees
    off they go
  4. Today

Voracious Club got a home of its own

Proper labels, a sticker you can scan for your next read, and this shop, where every copy is graded and photographed before it reaches the shelf.

White padded mailers sealed with yellow tape, each carrying a Voracious Club label and a round sticker
    our labels arrive
A white mailer and a pink parcel on a box, all with Voracious Club labels and stickers
    scan for your next read
  5. Since the very first parcel

    Packed with care, always

That part hasn't changed. Books go in snug and protected, usually with a handwritten library-card note tucked inside. A lot of passion for books goes into every parcel, and we hope it shows when yours arrives.

A tall stack of Voracious Club parcels: a pink bubble mailer, white envelopes and labelled boxes
    a good day's packing
A box and a wrapped parcel, each with a large Voracious Club label, beside white mailers
    packed with care

What we stock

We focus on books worth holding onto: literary fiction, cult paperbacks, sharp non-fiction, strange classics, and the kinds of finds that still feel personal when they land on your shelf.

How we grade

Every book is checked, graded and priced by hand. We use a strict condition system because loose grading wastes your time and ours. If we call it one thing, it should arrive looking like that thing.

How we pack

We pack with collectors and commuters in mind. That means books arrive protected, clearly labeled, and ready to hit your shelf rather than the returns pile.

Don't just take our word for it

Where we've been selling

We also sell on Vinted and eBay, where buyers have left us 1,000+ reviews on Vinted and 200+ on eBay. Same books, same grading, same packing. Read what they said.
