Terms & Conditions
These terms apply to every order placed with Cognitive Engineering Ltd trading as Voracious Club, and to Voracious Club accounts. You agree to them when you create an account or place an order.
They are the contract between us and the buyer, alongside our Returns & Refunds Policy and Delivery page. Please read them before you order.
Read this part carefully
Our books are frequently one-off, secondary-market or privately sourced copies. The listing, photos, and condition grade are part of the product description.
0. Who you are buying from
Voracious Club is operated by Cognitive Engineering Ltd trading as Voracious Club. Cognitive Engineering Ltd is registered in England and Wales. Company Registration Number: 11231700. Registered office: 34B Hermitage Wall, London, E1W 1LW.
You can contact us through the Contact Us page, or by replying to your order confirmation email if your query relates to an order.
1. Listings, stock, and availability
Books are listed subject to availability. Many titles are one-off copies, individually graded, and may have been sourced from the secondary market or private collections. Stock can change quickly and occasionally a listing may become unavailable before the storefront catches up.
We reserve the right to correct listing errors, withdraw items, refuse or cancel orders where a book has already been sold, duplicated, or cannot be supplied, and to update listing details where an obvious error has occurred.
2. Condition grading
Every used, pre-owned, or graded book is sold using the Voracious Club Condition Grading System. By placing an order, you acknowledge that you are buying a secondary-market, graded, or previously owned item unless the listing clearly states otherwise.
The written listing, photographs, and stated condition should always be read together. Minor signs of age, storage, shelf-wear, or handling that are consistent with the stated grade form part of the product description and are not faults.
Photographs show the condition of the copy listed. We may send another copy of the same edition in the same or better condition; it will always meet the stated grade. Where a listing names a unique feature, such as a signature, inscription or particular printing, we send that exact copy.
If a book arrives materially below the listed grade, contact us promptly and we will review the issue properly.
Read the condition grading system3. Orders, pricing, and payment
Prices are shown in the currency selected for your region. Physical printed books are zero-rated for UK Value Added Tax (VAT) under Schedule 8, Group 3 of the Value Added Tax Act 1994. Delivery charges include standard-rate VAT where applicable. All prices displayed on the storefront include any applicable taxes. Shipping charges, taxes, and any other applicable fees are itemised at checkout. Payment must be completed before an order is dispatched.
We take reasonable care over pricing, but errors can occur. We reserve the right to cancel an order and issue a refund if a pricing, promotional, tax, or availability error has been displayed on the site in obvious error.
When you place an order we take payment and email you to confirm we have received it. The contract is formed when we accept the order and begin preparing it for dispatch. Our books are mostly one-off copies, and very occasionally a copy sells elsewhere at the same moment. If we cannot supply a book you ordered, we will tell you and refund you in full for it straight away.
Payments are processed by third-party payment providers: Stripe (cards and, on supported devices, Apple Pay and Google Pay) and, where offered at checkout, PayPal. Their own terms may also apply to the payment service they provide.
4. Shipping, delivery, and liability limits
Delivery estimates are estimates, not guarantees. Delays caused by Royal Mail, Evri, InPost, customs processing, weather disruption, strikes, or incorrect address details are outside our direct control, though we will still do our best to help trace the parcel and support a claim where appropriate.
Our delivery options, prices and dispatch times are set out on our Delivery page. Unless we agree a different timeframe with you, we will deliver within 30 days of the contract being formed, as the law requires, and usually much sooner.
Read about deliveryTo the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss caused by carrier delay once an order has been properly dispatched. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where the law does not allow us to do so.
5. Returns and refunds
Our full returns and refunds rules are set out in our Returns and Refunds Policy. That policy forms part of these terms. If your book arrives damaged, incomplete, incorrect, or materially below the described grade, contact us promptly with the order number and clear photos.
Nothing in these terms limits your statutory consumer rights under applicable law, including the Consumer Contracts Regulations and Consumer Rights Act where they apply.
Read the returns and refunds policy6. Complaints and alternative dispute resolution (ADR)
If something goes wrong with your order, please contact us first through the Contact Us page or by replying to your order confirmation email. We aim to resolve every dispute fairly and promptly.
If we cannot resolve a complaint between us, you may be entitled to refer the matter to an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) provider. ADR is an independent way to settle disputes without going to court. We are not currently a member of an ADR scheme, but we will engage in good faith with any approved UK ADR provider you choose to use.
You can also contact Citizens Advice or the Chartered Trading Standards Institute for guidance on your options.
7. Intellectual property
The Voracious Club name, logo, branding, graphics, photography, product copy, editorial copy, and site content belong to Cognitive Engineering Ltd or its licensors unless otherwise stated. They may not be copied, reused, republished, or exploited without prior written permission.
8. Acceptable use and general terms
Do not misuse the storefront, interfere with the service, attempt unauthorised access, scrape protected content in a way that harms the site, or use the platform for fraudulent activity.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales unless mandatory consumer law in your place of residence applies differently.
